3 to 4 Months: Emerging Awareness & First Giggles 

At 3 to 4 months, your baby starts responding more to the world — turning toward voices, smiling socially, and even laughing. Their neck control is stronger, and some can hold toys or follow moving objects with their eyes.

7 to 8 Months: Crawling & Stranger Anxiety 

Crawling attempts begin. Babies are also starting to understand object permanence — which is when separation anxiety starts creeping in. You might hear cries the moment you leave the room. 


How it affects sleep training a baby: Sleep disruptions due to anxiety and movement are normal. Continue responding with love, but reinforce your sleep training approach to build confidence.

H2: 9 Months: Standing, Babbling & Personality Galore 

At 9 months, your baby may start pulling to stand, experimenting with sounds like “mama” or “dada,” and showing preferences for toys or people. They also might resist naps or bedtime. 


How it affects sleep training a baby: This is a classic sleep regression stage. Stick to your boundaries, reinforce nap/bedtime routines, and avoid letting your baby become overtired.
